Venue

Crowne Plaza Chester

Our home for the weekend will be the Crowne Plaza hotel in Chester.

Crowne Plaza main entrance

The Crowne Plaza Chester previously hosted Contemplation, the 2007 Eastercon. It was highly rated by committee and members alike for the spacious and centralised function rooms, the high standard of accommodation and the enthusiasm of the staff.

The hotel is on the edge of the city of Chester, with easy access to shopping areas and local attractions.

There are 160 bedrooms available, all offering modern accommodation to a high standard. Also onsite is an indoor pool and health/fitness suite. There will be two bars open for the duration of the convention, stocking a supply of real ale as well as cheaper alternatives to the hotel restaurant. We encourage you to use the onsite bars and restaurants as much as possible, since this reduces the amount we have to pay for the function space!

Room type Price (per room per night)

The City of Chester

Chester lies close to the border with Wales, and has a rich history which is reflected in its famous architecture.

As well as having the most complete city walls in Britain, Chester boasts a Norman cathedral and a Roman amphitheatre. Much of the city centre is Medieval in style, though while some of it does indeed date from the Middle Ages, much of the city is actually Victorian.

There is a plenty of shopping to be had in close proximity to the hotel, including Chester's famous rows, a unique arrangement of shops on two levels.

For those wishing to spend more time in the area, Chester also has a zoo, home to – among other things – a number of Komodo dragons.
